A mum of three whose home has been invaded by huge rats says the infestation is so bad she’s scared her kids are going to become seriously ill.
The grim rodents, which have infiltrated Courtney Godward’s house in Leeds, have chewed up her carpet, scuttled over her feet, and even accompanied her two-year-old to the bathroom.
Courtney, 21, told Leeds Live: “You can hear them in the wall cavity and scratching at the skirting on a night.
“Is it going to take my children to touch one and put their fingers in their mouths and end up in hospital really poorly for (the council) to do something?”
On one occasion, the disgusted tenant was having a cigarette outside and one of the vermin ran over her foot.
The problem is so bad she can’t even let her children play in the garden because of the danger of disease.
But the unlucky mum doesn’t just have to deal with just rats – her house is also plagued by mice.
She fumed: “I had my newborn home and she was really poorly with jaundice, in and out of hospital. In that time of her being at home she had a mouse under her bouncer chair.
"There were two on two different occasions the pest control man moved one said it was still alive and he put it in the bin. The second one I had to get someone to come and move it was still alive."
Courtney only moved into the house in November 2021 but faced the vile rodents almost immediately.

She called her landlord straight after, who came round quickly and covered all the holes in her house.
But an untidy nearby dump keeps the rats reproducing and Courtney claims Leeds City Council has done little to stop the problem.
She continued: "All different teams I have spoken to, the head of environmental health, they are not willing to help.
"All I want is for my kids to have a nice home and be able to play in the garden.”
A council spokesperson said: “Council services, including pest control, waste management, cleaner neighbourhood teams and Housing Leeds continue to work together to make sure pest problems are dealt with as quickly and effectively as possible.
"We would advise anyone experiencing any problems with pests to contact the council as soon as possible so we can offer advice and guidance. Further information about preventing infestations can be found on the council’s website:"
