A NEIGHBOURHOOD in Nottingham had a lovely surprise through their letter boxes as envelopes containing £100 were posted.
In the spirit of Christmas, letters labelled 'R.A.K' – meaning that it was a 'random act of kindness' – were delivered to houses in the area.
It's the second year residents from Clifton, Nottingham have received letters.
Last year, envelopes were posted through doors on Christmas Eve.
Emma Phelps, 33, was at home on Thursday evening, December 23, when her family received the festive surprise.
She said: "When I saw the letter I had no idea what it was at all. It shows that there are lovely people in the world."
Another neighbour, care home assistant Charlie Jone, 24 said: "It was so amazing to know there are still good people out there and just for a minute I could forget about all the negatives and just focus on the positive in that moment."
Other Clifton residents posted in a local Facebook community group saying they had also received the surprise gift.
One woman wrote on Facebook: "I'm sat here with tears in my eyes in complete shock.
"Whoever you are, from the bottom of my heart thank you so so much."
It seems people across the country are doing random acts of kindness – even when it's not Christmas.
In October this year, one woman had her toll fare paid for by a driver who was ahead of her in the queue.
In 2019, on National Random Acts Of Kindness Day, the Sun on Sunday ventured out to various cities in the UK to spread cheer by handing out doughnuts and chocolates.
