Nicola Sturgeon's SNPs have brought up Independence every week since the 2014 referendum, stats say

NICOLA Sturgeon’s SNP have banged on about independence every week since the referendum in 2014, analysis shows.

It comes as the Nationalists prepare to unveil their party manifesto today where they will pledge to keep pushing for a second poll.

Ms Sturgeon will outline plans later to “end austerity” and halt benefit cuts for working families and the disabled.

On independence, Ms Sturgeon said: “A vote for the SNP will also strengthen Scotland’s right to choose our own future.

“This election won’t decide whether or not Scotland will become independent – but a vote for the SNP will reinforce the right of the Scottish Parliament to decide when the nation should be given a choice on its future, and will make sure that Scotland’s future is always in Scotland’s hands.”

It came as Scots Tory boss Ruth Davidson claimed the SNP were unable to stop talking about independence.

The Scottish Tories said the First Minister and other senior SNP officials had made public statements on independence every week since September 2014.

Ms Davidson’s deputy Jackson Carlaw said: “Nicola Sturgeon promised the 2014 referendum was a once in a generation event and she pledged to respect the result.

“Since then she has broken her word on both counts on a weekly basis.”
