Britain's most violent prisoner is fuming after a delay in his parole meeting means he'll miss Christmas dinner with his mum.

Charles Bronson had hoped his latest bid for freedom was going to set him free ahead of the festive season, but now it's unlikely his case will take place until 2023.

After spending most of his life behind bars, the 69-year old had become the the first person in Britain to be granted a public parole hearing.

However, after initially hoping it might have taken place in the summer, it was reportedly put back until December and now it's unlikely to take place until next year, meaning he'll mist out on turkey and pigs in blankets with his mum.

In a handwritten letter to WalesOnline from his cell in the high-security HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, Bronson – whose mum Eira comes from Aberystwyth, Wales – described the set back as a "disgrace."

The lag also said of his now-ruined plans for a festive family reunion: "Jingle f***ing b*****ks!"

He wrote: "I always say: 'Never plan anything in prison unless it's an escape'. Because you're just not in control of your own life. This Xmas I was lookin forward to dinner with my mother. I believed I had a good chance of squeezing out some jam roll (parole) on December 12 – but now that won't happen 'til 2023.

"That's how this system 'works' – they couldn't run a p***-up in a brewery. That's why there are so many suicides inside and why the women left on the outside lose hope."

Bronson was originally given a seven-year sentence for an armed raid on a Cheshire post office in 1974 from which he netted just £26.18.

But that initial sentence has increased several times over the decades as a result of various violent incidents which saw him assault other inmates and take members of prison staff hostage.

Often referred to as the “most violent prisoner in Britain” he has spent the majority of the past four decades in prison for various crimes.

Nevertheless since changing his surname to Salvador in 2014 – in tribute to the surrealist painter Dali–- he's become a prolific artist, devoting himself to raising money for various charities, writing books, and trying to encourage kids to stay away from crime.

"I've given these hypocrites years of good behaviour and they've given me nothing back. It's a disgrace and I'm sick of it," said Bronson. "'Jingle f***ing b*****s', I say. But it is Xmas after all, so one must not be angry."

He added: "Will I make it out for Christmas next year, who knows? But there's one sure thing – I'll get out of here one day and it won't be in a body bag."

The Ministry of Justice has been contacted for comment.
