A nurse is facing life in jail for murder after stabbing her husband twice in the abdomen at their home in Essex while he was sleeping.
Rebecca Searing, 52, was found guilty of murdering Paul Searing, 57, at Chelmsford Crown Court today.
Ms Searing, who was allegedly ‘trapped in an unhappy marriage’ with accusations of domestic abuse from both sides, denied murdering her husband, saying she just ‘lost control’ at the time.
She called the ambulance service at 2.12am on February 12 this year, saying she had stabbed her husband twice at their home in Ryecroft, Harlow, in West Essex.
Speaking to Essex police officers after she had been arrested, Ms Searing said: ‘I can’t believe I’ve done this’ and ‘I will go down for this’.

Paramedics treated Mr Searing in the bedroom and he was taken to hospital but died three hours later.
Ms Searing continued to plead with police, saying ‘please tell me you’re lying’ and ‘he can’t be dead, he’s too strong’.
A bloodstained knife was found inside their home.
The court heard that documents were found on Ms Searing’s computer appearing to be on the subject of murder, one including ‘make your mind up if it’s time to kill’.
She claimed she was experiencing domestic abuse from her husband ‘monthly’ – a matter made worse by the coronavirus lockdown.
She told the court: ‘The last thing I recall is Paul saying I’m hopeless and useless.
‘I don’t recall calling 999, I don’t recall stabbing him and I don’t recall any argument or me feeling scared.’

Lydia George, investigating officer detective inspector, said: ‘Paul Searing lost his life in a moment of extreme violence and Rebecca Searing’s actions were fatal.
‘And while she may have some regret for what has happened, that cannot undo the consequences of her actions.
‘She now faces a life sentence and a significant amount of time behind bars.’
At Rebecca’s trial the jury heard the 52 year-old had asked an officer if she would get 25 years for the crime.
When these comments were put to her during interview she replied ‘no comment’.
The trial at Chelmsford Crown Court today found her to be guilty and she showed no emotion as the verdict was announced.
Ms Searing is due to be sentenced at the same court on Wednesday, September 7.
