One dead after motorcycle-SUV collision in Manhattan

A motorcyclist was killed when his chopper collided with an SUV at a Harlem intersection early Saturday, police said.

According to preliminary reports, the biker collided with an SUV at the intersection of West 142nd Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard shortly after 2:30 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene, police said.

The 41-year-old biker, whose name was not immediately released, sustained severe head injuries and was rushed by EMS to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said Saturday.

The cause of the smash was under investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad as of Saturday morning.
