Our daughter, 14, died after being mauled by four dogs who bit her 'from head to toe' – dangerous dogs are an epidemic | The Sun

THE parents of a teen girl who died after being mauled by four dogs have revealed their devastation over her tragic violent death.

Jade Lomas-Anderson was just 14 years old when she was savagely killed by two bullmastiffs and two Staffordshire bull terriers.

The young girl was at her friend's house when she suffered horrifying injuries back in March 2013.

A court heard the teen was bitten from "head to toe" and died from her "horrific injuries".

A decade on her parents Shirley and Mike Anderson have said dangerous dogs are an epidemic and laws need to be stricter.

It comes after 12 people have been killed by dangerous dog breeds in the UK since 2022 – with a six-year-old girl left with life-changing injuries after being mauled by beasts just last week in Trafford, Manchester.

Shirley, 46, said: "The law we have now is a massive insult to Jade’s legacy.

"Every time there is a dog attack, it’s a kick in the face to us and we feel angry and upset."

At the time of Jade's death, it was only illegal to have an out-of-control hound in a public place.

After fighting for tougher laws, Shirley and Mike influenced a change which saw private homes included.

Despite this, people being mauled by dogs hasn't stopped.

The couple, from Greater Manchester, told the Mirror the law still isn't enough and needs to be "ripped up and started again".

They also want harsher jail terms for the owners of vicious dogs.

Mike added: "Dangerous dog attacks have become a spiralling epidemic. We want justice for families.

"It’s almost always the owners who are dangerous. It’s 90% owner, it’s 10% the dog.

"We want the onus to be placed more on the owners."

Jade died five minutes away from her home on March 23, ten years ago.

Her pal's mum, Beverly Concannon, was given a 16-week suspended sentence for animal cruelty and a ban on keeping dogs.

An inquest heard she had five dogs who were "stir-crazy" and "hyper-aggressive".

Shirley said 10 years on the change in law hasn't made a difference and it's deeply "upsetting".

A schoolboy was dragged to the floor and attacked by a vicious canine on January 24 in Loughborough.

Natasha Johnston, 28, was walking her dogs in Surrey, when she was attacked on January 12 – she died from “multiple penetrating dog bites to the neck”.

A woman in Blackpool was left needing 70 stitches after suffering serious injuries to her face when a dog on a lead pounced.

And in February, Natasha Johnston, 28, was mauled to death by the dogs she was walking in Surrey.

Keith Richards, 44, was left needing hospital treatment after he was mauled by a pit bull in Tyneside back in February.

Giorgi Fullbirg-Taylor, 10, was rushed to hospital after being savaged while he was playing football.

Cheryl May and her grandson Zac were set upon by a dog described as a British bull terrier in a "horror film"-like attack.

A "dangerous and out of control" dog also attacked a man in his 50s who suffered life-changing injuries.

A 74-year-old woman also fell victim to an attack as one dog savaged her and broke her arm.

Most recently a six-year-old girl was left fighting for her life after being mauled by multiple dogs in Manchester just last week.
