RESIDENTS of a popular seaside town have exposed a downside that will put homeowners off.

Those living in Folkestone, Kent, have warned people moving to their town of “sleepless nights” and “4am wake up calls”.

Homeowners say their quiet town is ruined by randy seagulls causing a flap with their constant squawking.

Lynn Barrett-Smith, who lives in the harbour area of Folkestone, revealed the daily struggle in a video posted on Facebook.

The footage shows three raucous seagulls aggressively shrieking outside one of the bedroom windows.

Mrs Barrett-Smith said a 4am wake-up call was now part of her morning routine because of the noisy birds.

“I have lived in this house for 25 years so I don’t even notice it anymore.”

The picturesque seaside town was once named one of the best places to live in the UK by the Sunday Times in their annual roundup.

It was praised for the multi-million pound regeneration which has transformed the area over recent decades.

Holidaymakers were stunned by Mermaid Beach with one Tiktoker saying it made her feel like she was abroad.

But now residents are faced with raucous intruders ruining the calmly area.

This comes after residents told how they are being pushed out by second homeowners.

The town is becoming an increasingly popular destination for homebuyers and locals say it’s making the area impossible to live in.

The once dilapidated town is now home to a thriving Creative Quarter of art galleries and studios, and its decommissioned train station plays host to regular live music and entertainment.

But residents say the regeneration has come at a price – with the cost of living in the town steadily increasing in line with its popularity.
