A woman in her 70s tragically died today after she was hit by a car outside an Aldi supermarket in Birmingham.
Paramedics were called to the scene at the supermarket in Hall Green in southeast Birmingham at around midday today after the emergency services received several 999 calls about the incident.
The pensioner was fatally injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, BirminghamLive reports.
The male driver of the car was assessed by paramedics but did not need to be taken to hospital for treatment.

A photo taken at the scene shows the car involved in the collision had been cordoned off by officers from West Midlands Police.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: ‘We were called to a collision involving a car and pedestrian in Stratford Road, Hall Green, at around midday today.
‘Sadly, a woman in her 70s was confirmed dead at the scene. Our enquiries are ongoing.’
Two paramedics, a critical care paramedic, two ambulances, a first responder and a trauma doctor were sent to the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two paramedic officers, two ambulances, a community first responder, a MERIT trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic to the scene after reports came in.
A spokesperson for the service said when ambulance crews arrived they found the woman in a ‘critical condition following a collision with a car’.
They said: ‘Sadly, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed deceased by ambulance staff at the scene a short time later.’
They said the driver of the car was assessed and discharged at the scene by ambulance staff.
