Disturbing new photos show San Jose gunman Samuel James Cassidy’s massive stockpile of weapons — including 12 guns, Molotov cocktails and thousands of rounds of ammunition, authorities said Friday.
A search of Cassidy’s fire-ravaged home yielded a total of 22,000 rounds of ammo along with firearms and multiple cans of gasoline, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Photos of his deadly stash show one of his guns along with bags of bullets and military-style ammunition belts.
Cassidy, 57, gunned down nine railyard workers at his job with semi-automatic handguns before killing himself on Wednesday morning. The disgruntled Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority employee reportedly went from “building to building” slaughtering coworkers.
His home was later found on fire, sparking an investigation into whether he set it ablaze himself.
Local cops worked with the FBI and ATF to seize the weapons from Cassidy’s three-bedroom home at around 6:30 pm Wednesday.
“It is believed that the suspect coordinated the destruction of his residence,” the sheriff’s office press release states. “It is clear that this was a planned event and the suspect was prepared to use his firearms to take as many lives as he possibly could.”
Cassidy’s motive hasn’t been determined, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
