Police uncover more human remains after finding two bags of bones in Suffolk river

POLICE who found two bags of bones in a river have now uncovered more human remains at the same spot.

DNA tests confirmed to the murder probe cops that they are from the same person.

The two bags were hauled from the water by a nature reserve warden after they were spotted by a member of the public on August 27.

Forensic tests established the victim was a man of athletic or muscular build, but he has not been identified.

A murder inquiry was launched even though a post mortem failed to establish how the man died.

The small amount of additional human remains were found during searches of the River Stour at Sudbury, Suffolk, by specialist officers.

Suffolk Police are still trying to trace a man swimming in the river at 5pm on August 20.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour near to the river in the week before the discovery to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone who has seen black bin bags in unusual locations, such as ditches or hedgerows.
