Poster girl cop caught pulling a sickie to go to the races after fight over a jug of Pimm's | The Sun

A POSTER-girl cop who was caught pulling a sickie to go to the races was caught after she got into a fight over a jug of Pimm's.

PC Kira Wealls, 20, headed to Newmarket Racecourse in June – hours after telling bosses she was too sick to work a night shift.

While at the Suffolk racecourse, Kira got into an altercation with another group when her then-boyfriend allegedly took a sip from their jug of Pimm’s.

The PC – who has since resigned – was once a poster girl for Essex Police when she appeared in a recruitment video.

The clip charts her career swap from "serving customers" at Tesco to "serving your community" as a cop.

Kira was leaving the racecourse when she was hit by a woman from another group, it has been claimed.

Kira told cops at the racecourse that she was assaulted – and revealed she was a PC with another police force.

Essex Police were informed and put her on restricted duties. Kira was told she faced a misconduct hearing.

But the PC has since quit, with her mum revealing she has now moved to Turkey.

Alison told the Daily Mail Kira suffered "mental health problems" exasperated by her job – but she didn't want bosses to know.

Kira hinted something was wrong on Facebook in July, when she wrote: "The temptation to go to the airport, buy a one-way ticket, leave the country and live on my own has never been so real."

A misconduct hearing panel led by Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington found she committed "discreditable" gross misconduct.

Chief Constable Harrington added: "Essex Police will support staff who are ill but we will not tolerate behaviour that undermines the integrity of the force and brings the hard work of the many into disrepute."
