Melbourne Airport is scrambling to get its electronic systems back up and running after two unplanned outages in the city’s inner north-west left all four terminals and the carpark in the dark on Wednesday night.
An airport spokesman said power had been restored. However, operations in terminal 4, which handles Jetstar’s domestic flights, and the international hub in terminal 2 continued to be impacted.

The first blackout occurred at about 5.45pm and was followed by a second outage at 6pm.
Travellers scheduled to depart after 6pm experienced delays of up to an hour and a half as a result of the fault, with airlines working to accommodate them on alternative services.
The brief power outage impacted check-in and baggage services but did not affect air traffic control or the airfield, allowing some checked-in flights to depart.
Melbourne Airport was expecting more than 60,000 passengers to travel through its terminals on Wednesday. It is unclear how many of those were passing through at the time of the fault.
Electricity supplier Jemena reported over 30,000 properties without power at 7pm, but said all power had been restored by about 7.40pm.
The outage, believed to be the result of a fault in the transmission network, originated at Keilor terminal station, near Brimbank Park and is still being investigated by the company.
Affected suburbs included Ascot Vale, Essendon, Flemington and Strathmore.
Traffic lights at several intersections in the area were also affected, but supply has since been restored, VicTraffic said.
“Power is being restored in areas including Moonee Ponds, Essendon, Flemington, Ascot Vale, Maribyrnong and Braybrook,” the agency said.
