Princess Charlotte is reportedly set to be honoured with a prestigious title at the expense of a senior royal.
King Charles is said to be holding off on giving his brother Prince Edward the Dukedom of Edinburgh, instead planning on making his granddaughter the Duchess of Edinburgh.
Edward had been expected to inherit the Dukedom following the death of his father Prince Philip last year.

There has since been mounting speculation given that that has not come to fruition.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, a royal source has now revealed that is because Charlotte is in line to receive the title.
The source said: "Discussions are underway, but the favoured outcome for the King is that this title ought to go to Princess Charlotte.
"It would be a fitting way to remember the Queen – who, of course, had the title Duchess of Edinburgh – and a way for His Majesty to honour the line of succession."
Following the Succession of the Crown Act in 2013, Charlotte became the first female royal whose succession was not impacted by the birth of a younger brother.
This means that, as the second child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, she is third in line to the throne after her father and Prince George.
Prince Louis did not supersede her when he was born in 2018, given the rule change in 2013 which meant that secession would no longer be dependent on gender.

Charlotte will only drop down the line of succession when her older brother George has children of his own.
The source added: "Charlotte’s position is historically significant because she is the first female member of the Royal Family whose place in the line of succession will not be surpassed by her younger brother.
"So it is constitutionally significant that Charlotte should be given such a corresponding title, because it is not beyond the realms of possibility that she will accede the throne if, for example, Prince George does not have children."
