Pupil attacks teacher who told parents he was underperforming

Shocking video shows pupil attacking teacher who told his parents he was underperforming – as woke school board sees 31% spike in fights after making it harder to discipline pupils

A shocking video shows a Georgia teacher being repeatedly punched and attacked by a student inside a classroom.

The incident, which took place just before Tuesday at Discovery High School in Lawrenceville, happened after a parent-teacher meeting the night before where the teacher told the student’s parents he was underperforming.

The school board made changes earlier this year to ease standards for tribunals in an attempt to reduce discipline on minority students but it appears to have had an adverse effect, as school officials have reported a 31 percent increase in fights at schools this year.

The video – which was caught by a cell phone camera – went viral after it was posted by the infamous @LibsofTikTok Twitter account.

The teacher, who has not yet been identified, was left with a bloody mouth and head injuries, as well as dizzy spells.

The student was stopped by another student who jumped on top of the attacker to try and stop the situation from getting worse.

His wife spoke out and said that the student beat ‘the crap’ out of him.

They told Channel 2 Action News: ‘I don’t think people should have the crap beat out of them when they go to work. I just want the students and the teachers to be safe, because my husband signed up to be a teacher. He loves his job.’

Monday night, the teacher told the parents that the student was performing poorly at an official meeting.

Gwinett County Schools, where Discovery High School is located, is still investigating the incident.

His wife said that it could’ve been worse and she’s ‘really glad’ it wasn’t.

It is unclear, as of Tuesday evening, if the student will be disciplined or even charged criminally.

The teacher’s wife said: ‘I just would like better security. And I would like for a student not have to be the one that pulls another student off of my loved one.’

The schools have also reported a doubling of students found with razors or blades and a tripling of students found with handguns.

Just two weeks ago, Superintendent Calvin Watts addressed the increase in violence, but only said: ‘We know the solution is complex and there’s no easy answers.’

Just two weeks ago, Superintendent Calvin Watts addressed the increase in violence, but only said: ‘We know the solution is complex and there’s no easy answers’

Watts added: ‘The global pandemic has exasperated risk factors for violence in general like loneliness, isolation, and economic instability.’

One school official told Yahoo News the board could consider a badge alert system and an AI weapons detections system at all schools but the response has been underwhelming.
