The Queen made a kind gesture to Meghan Markle and her mother Doria Ragland on the eve of her Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry, a royal commentator has claimed.
Meghan married Prince Harry in a celebrity-packed ceremony in Windsor in May 2018.
The former actress was accompanied down the aisle by Prince Charles, after a falling-out with her father Thomas Markle meant he did not attend.
Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland was, however, in attendance, and royal commentator Neil Sean has claimed that a "very senior palace source" told him that the Queen was keen to ensure that her guest was made to feel comfortable.
“As they checked into that hotel, that house, Her Majesty the Queen had placed a personal call through to speak to both Meghan and her mother, to welcome them to the United Kingdom,” he claimed, speaking on his YouTube channel.
The royal commentator suggested that the purpose of the call was to check whether there was anything Doria or her daughter needed and to offer her help to make the stressful day ahead a little easier.
“Her Majesty the Queen is a very busy lady, but realised that she wanted to be seen as someone that wasn’t as cold-hearted as she’d been portrayed previously,” he continued.
“I’m not sure for how many minutes this conversation took place, but apparently they were both very moved – that’s Meghan and Doria – and thanked Her Majesty the Queen graciously themselves.
“I thought it was a really nice thing to do when you consider that, yes it must have been daunting for Meghan’s mother to turn up in the United Kingdom with that big day, with the world’s media looking upon you.
“And then, on top of all that, to get a phone call from Her Majesty the Queen, it just shows how kind and caring Her Majesty truly is.”
This comes as the Queen celebrated reaching the historic landmark of 70 years on the throne yesterday (February 6).
The monarch released a message, setting out her desires for the future of the Royal Family, acknowledging that she wanted Camilla to take on the role of Queen Consort when Prince Charles takes over as King.
