Restaurant owner shows no mercy as he fires back at brutal Tripadvisor reviewer

A top restaurant has hit back at a rude customer who said their food lacked flavour in a brutal one-star review.

Jambavan, in Warwick, called out the cheeky diner after he claimed the food wasn't spicy enough and said it was "modest at best".

The TripAdvisor review, written by customer Paul, went onto slam the restaurant's service and claimed he was "confronted" by management.

But owner Mahuk defended himself and his hard-working team by stating that he never even met the customer, reports CoventryLive.

Paul, who visited in September last year during a three day trip, captioned his critique: "Poor Food, Worse Service".

He wrote: "After having a starter each, which was modest at best along came the main (a Rogan Josh for me and a Biriani for my girlfriend).

"These are our usual main of choice whenever we have an Indian in England. Quite simply the main was lacking in any hint of spice."

He continued: "After asking for the Rogan Josh to be given a bit of a kick as it had none at all it was then taken back to the kitchen and brought back to me unpallatively (sic) hot.

"Skip to the end of the evening we were confronted by whom I assume was the manager who defended the chef by saying everyone has an off day.

"We weren't offered any deduction of the bill even though I'd left the Rogan Josh as it was inedible. He didn't ask whether we'd enjoyed our meal as it was quite obvious that we hadn't.

"We paid the bill and left never to return."

Jambavan has a four-and-half star rating on the popular travel website, with 302 independent reviews of which 246 are excellent.

Owner of Jambavan, Mashuk, responded that he was happy that the reviewer was only in Warwick for a short break.

He said: "I’m glad you were only here for a 3-day break Paul, as I really can’t be doing with customers who like to have deductions from their bill. As it happens you never met me.

"We pride ourselves on the authentic food we serve, perhaps whilst ordering you should have specified your personal taste and another dish more suitable to your palate would have been suggested.

"I was informed that your dish was replaced. Want it mild! Want it hot! Want a deduction! Want a freebie! Do you exactly know what you want? Goodbye."

The popular restaurant has been flooded with raving reviews on TripAdvisor, with customers stating that they visit it regularly.

"Been for many a great Indian meal over the years but a great mix of southern Indian options with breads and rice perfectly cooked always a great sign," said one customer.

Another diner who visited the restaurant in December last year added: "We had a New Year’s Eve meal at Jambavan and it was the best Indian we have ever had, and we have tried many in the area!

"The food is authentic and perfect portion sizes. The menu is a nice blend of traditional and unique. The atmosphere is nice, friendly and relaxing. We will be returning!"
