Have I sold you lately…. Rod Stewart puts his VERY decadent Los Angeles mansion – complete with a soccer pitch – on the market for $70 million

  • Stewart, 78, is the latest celebrity to sell his property in California
  • His $70million North Beverly Park compound is hitting the market
  • The iconic singer bought the property for just $12million back in 1991

Classic rock icon Rod Stewart is the latest celebrity to put his California estate up for sale, as his $70million North Beverly Park compound with wild amenities hits the market.

Stewart, 78, had the property designed for him by famous California architect Richard Landry in the 1990s after he bought the land for just over $12million in 1991 and the enclave has been home base for the English star ever since.

The palace-like estate includes patterned marble floors, elaborate wood paneling, crystal chandeliers and intricate moldings.

Stewart lives there with long-time wife Penny Lancaster and his two youngest sons, 18-year-old Alistair and 12-year-old Aiden.

The ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ crooner bought the property during his second marriage to model Rachel Hunter.

The nine-bedroom main house has a unique yellow exterior with double doors to welcome you inside.

The lengthy private driveway includes a motor court and classical fountain.

The interior features a grand foyer with marble floors, Corinthian columns and ornate mirrors.

The biggest features of the estate may be for entertainment purposes – including a three-story guesthouse and two gyms, as well as a pool.

There’s also a great room with a bar, fireplace and French doors leading to an area that overlooks the entire setup.

It also comes with a grand piano, wood-paneled library, chandelier and formal dining room that can fit 20 people.

Listing images show a massive closet space, perfect for the buyer who shares Stewart’s penchant for fashion, especially shoes.

Unique to the 33,000-square foot property is a sizable soccer field, as Stewart is a notorious fan of Scottish giants Celtic and used to play frequently himself. He also got permission to build a pitch at his home in Essex in 2016.

He went so far as to allow his son Aiden’s under-12 team to use it as a training ground when they lost theirs during the pandemic.

It wasn’t just for kids, as former Republic of Ireland star Robbie Keane told The Scotsman in 2017 that Stewart would invite him and several others up to the estate to play.

Stewart has a huge collection of art pieces and statues inside but they are not part of the sale.

Agent Michelle Oliver of Douglas Elliman said that she’s hoping for a buyer who wants a ‘return to maximalism’ and ‘something that looks different and stands out.’

It’s not clear why Stewart is selling, with Oliver declining to comment, but he could be the latest in an exodus of stars from California.

Los Angeles’ wealthiest residents are fleeing the city as Governor Gavin Newsom hikes taxes on the rich and the city crumbles under soaring crime rates – with actor Jim Carrey the latest A-lister to list his home for sale.

Carey, 61, who purchased his Brentwood mansion for $3.8 million in 1994, listed his home for a whopping $28.9 million after announcing his plan to retire from acting.

Mark Wahlberg said he had bid the Golden State farewell in hopes of giving his children a ‘better life’ in income tax-free Nevada late last year.

Tesla CEO and now ‘Chief Twit’ Elon Musk confirmed he has relocated to Texas in 2020 following a feud with California lawmakers over government shutdowns amid the COVID-19 crisis.

While many celebrities have moved for marriage or relationships, noted conservative comedian and SNL alum Rob Schneider left for political reasons.

‘California, land of my birth and where all my children were born, I’ve spent all of my life in your beauty,’ he tweeted in 2020. ‘So it is with much sadness that we have to part. But it is time to leave #CaliforniaYouBrokeMyHeart.’

Schneider has since moved to what he called the ‘slightly freer state’ of nearby Arizona, telling Fox News in 2022 that he didn’t want ‘the Democratic Party trying to run my life.’

Comedian, MMA commentator and podcasting icon Joe Rogan has moved his Spotify-backed show, as well as the rest of his life, to Texas.

Rogan said he moved to Austin, Texas in 2020 to ‘have a little bit more freedom.’
