There have been at least three explosions which have struck the centre of Ukraine's capital Kyiv overnight.

Russian forces have restart their bombing campaign in the Ukrainian capital after last week's onslaught, the Mirror reports.

The noise of the explosions could be heard in the Shevchenkivskiy district of the city on Monday morning, with one of the blasts occurring near a train station.

The explosions are believed to have resulted from a hit by 'kamikaze' drones.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko took to social media as he said that several residential properties had been damaged by the blasts and rescue teams have now been deployed.

He tweeted: "The explosion in the Shevchenkivskyi district is in the centre of the capital. All services follow the place. Details later. The air alarm continues. Stay in shelters!"

Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president's staff, wrote on the Telegram messaging app: "Russians think it will help them, but such actions are just their convulsions".

The Shevchenkivskiy district has been hit hard of late as it was also suffered damage last week in the most intense bombings of the Ukrainian capital since the early days of the war.

Further explosions were also heard across Ukraine from Lviv in the west to Dnipro in the east in a revenge attack by Vladimir Putin following attacks on the Crimean Bridge.
