Russian in spy swap alongside 'poisoned' Sergei Skripal is 'not concerned' for his life

A RUSSIAN agent who was part of a spy swap alongside poisoned Sergei Skripal, insists he is “not concerned” for his life.

Igor Sutyagin found refuge in the UK eight years ago alongside Skripal in a deal involving flame-haired double agent Anna Chapman.

Retired spy Colonel Skripal, 66, and a woman – believed to be his daughter were found poisoned in a Wiltshire shopping centre on Sunday.

But Sutyagin, who now works at a UK think tank, says he has no fear for his own safety.

He told The Times: “I feel OK, I am not concerned.

"We have saying in Russian that if you keep thinking one day [something bad might happen] then that day will come."

He also warned against pointing the finger of blame at Russia, adding: “There are lots of former security officers that deserted to the West.
