Russia has a horrifying attack submarine that is "invisible" to enemies in the West.
The ongoing atrocities taking place in Ukraine see Russia continue to bomb and attempt to take over the neighbouring country.
Yesterday (Friday, March 25) saw the news that "contingency plans" have been drawn up by Boris Johnson and Joe Biden in case Vladimir Putin decides to unleash deadly chemical or nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
As well as the ability to draw on nuclear warheads, Putin also has submarines that were first unveiled in 2018 that are almost unidentifiable to his Western enemies.
In December 2021 it was confirmed that they would start sea trials on the terrifying Kronshtadt, with the new submarine boasted to be so quiet it will be invisible to enemy riders – and "surpass” its predecessors.
The Kronshtadt weighs in at a hulking 2,700 tons, is 236feet long, and is powered by diesel-electric engines.
It emits an extremely low level of noise which allows it to evade enemy sonar systems and sneak up on its prey.
The Kronshtadt is designed to combat enemy ships, launch missile strikes on land, carry out scouting missions and protect navy bases.
The vessel can fire missiles in volleys, which Russia boasts cannot be countered by other naval targets.
Admiralty Shipyards CEO Alexander Buzakov said at the time of its unveiling: "The importance of this event is hard to overestimate. The submarine began to be built in 2005.
"There have been some pauses in construction work and in financing, but the launch day has come at last.
"The delay in construction work allowed for using the experience gained in building and operating the submarine The St. Petersburg.
"By all parameters, this submarine surpasses its predecessor.”
At the time of the unveiling it was seen as an attempt to match NATO, with it being deemed as "Cold War levels" of submarines going below the waves at the time.
Four years on and Russian propaganda has warned NATO that Putin will launch nuclear and biological warfare should any of their troops step foot on Ukrainian soil – sparking World War 3.
The Russian president's tightly-controlled state TV went into overdrive to warn alliance leaders against deploying any troops even acting to maintain peace.
Olga Skabeyeva, host of state-owned Rossiya 1's show 60 Minutes, said: “If NATO members send peacekeepers to Ukraine… They should understand that this will represent a direct clash between the armed forces of Russia and NATO. And how this collision will end is probably not worth explaining…
"This is called World War Three.”
And on Kremlin-controlled Channel 1, military expert Col. Yury Knutov, echoed the same line.
