School shooting in Bremerhaven, Germany, leaves one injured

One person is wounded after gunman opens fire at German school: Shooter is arrested as police hunt ‘second suspect with a crossbow’

One person has been arrested and another seriously wounded after a school shooting in northern Germany.

Police were called to Lloyd High School in northern city of Bremerhaven early Thursday to reports of gunshots.

One woman, a female employee of the school, was seriously hurt and has been taken to hospital while the suspected gunman has been arrested, officers said.

Cops have sealed off the school amid reports of a second suspect reportedly armed with a crossbow, which officers are investigating.

Online newspaper Nord24 said a schoolgirl using the bathroom raised the alarm after hearing the sound of gunshots.

Around 200 students were in school at the time of the attack and have barricaded themselves in their classrooms with their teachers, the paper added.

The school typically has more pupils in attendance, but some are off-site to re-sit examinations taking place today.
