Seminole High School, Florida, news: Students in code red lockdown as cops catch suspect 'who shot classmate'

A FLORIDA high school was placed in a code red lockdown after a student reportedly shot a classmate.

Police quickly secured Seminole High School in Stanford on Wednesday morning after a reported shooting unfolded on or near the main campus.

In a message to parents, school officials confirmed the suspect was in custody after early reports indicated the shooter was on the run.

"One student was injured and a suspect is in custody. This was an isolated incident," the school said.

According to News6, the wounded student was transported to a local hospital in stable condition after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Sanford police tweeted that the scene was contained and there was no active threat to the school.

It is unclear where the alleged shooting took place.

The school district advised parents not to come to the facility as police investigate the incident.
