SEVERAL people have been injured after a workman's drill started a fire onboard a train, sparking a panicked evacuation at an East London station.
Passengers have said people jumped on the tracks after reports of smoke in carriages on a service at Dalston Kingsland station, in Hackney.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 7am with reports of "several walking wounded".
Passengers tweeted about panic onboard a service travelling through the station during rush hour.
One described "sheer terror and panic" while another said there was a "bang".

In a Twitter post a passenger said: "Highest praise to @metpoliceuk & @LondonFire this morning for rapid response to incident at Dalston Kingsland. Sheer terror & panic onboard.
"I scrambled up the bank. People were getting crushed. It was a terrifying experience but glad all is ok."
Another said: "I was on the train and everyone jumped onto the tracks it was horrific."
Pictures from the scene show crowds of people and emergency vehicles around the station entrance.
London Fire Brigade has confirmed three people were injured.
A spokesman said: "A workman's drill had overheated and started smoking. Firefighters extinguished the battery and placed it in a bucket of sand. The station was evacuated."
Duncan Cross, Deputy Director of London Overground, added: "At around 7.14am today there was an incident involving a faulty drill that was being carried to work by a customer at Dalston Kingsland.
"The train was evacuated and the emergency services attended.
"We would like to apologise to customers who were on board and to our customers whose journeys have been disrupted."
The station reopened at about 8.15am, but there are major delays to services through the area.
