Shocking moment a man is hit by a BUS live on BBC news during report on Charlie Gard protest

THIS is the shocking moment a man is hit by a bus outside the High Court during a live BBC news report covering the Charlie Gard protest.

As a reporter spoke about the latest developments in the tragic tot's case a man in a blue T-shirt and flat cap appears to fall dramatically into the red double decker.

As bystanders scream and rush to the man's aid the stunned presenter stumbles as he tries to work out what has happened behind him.

In the moment before the crash the presenter said: "A lot of drama here outside the court."

He then looks round at the commotion behind him and adds: "I'm not sure what's going on there."

Shocked viewers had spotted the accident with one tweeting: "Did someone just get hit by a bus live on BBC News?"

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "We were called at 15.10 to reports of a road traffic collision between a bus and a pedestrian.

"The man is believed to have arm injuries but they are not life threatening or life changing."

Protests were being held outside the central London court today where Charlie Gard's parents asked judges to reconsider a ruling that their son's life support should be switched off.

They begged the court to allow the terminally ill tot to receive a “miracle” treatment – having insisted “we don’t want him in the ground, we want him riding a bike”.

Support for their cause has been boosted in recent days after President Donald Trump threw his weight behind their lengthy battle to fly stricken Charlie to America for the experimental treatment.

Ahead of today's hearing the parents said there was nothing to lose in giving little Charlie one last chance of life – and hailed the nucleoside bypass therapy as a potential miracle cure for the youngster’s rare brain condition.

Today’s case is a preliminary hearing with the full details to be heard on Thursday with a decision expected later in the week, it’s reported.

Supporters with placards and balloons stood outside the iconic building chanting “Save Charlie Gard” and “Release Charlie Gard” as his parents arrived.
