Shocking murder mystery of billionaire couple found hanging by their indoor pool as cops release eerie CCTV of suspect

THE chilling murder mystery of a billionaire couple found hanging by their mansion pool four years ago has taken a twist as cops release footage of a new suspect.

Barry Sherman, 75, was found dead with his wife Honey, 70, in the basement of their £3million Toronto home in December 2017.

The couple were found hanging side by side above their indoor swimming pool.

Cops initially suspected a murder-suicide, but an autopsy found they died from strangulation, and investigators ruled both deaths "targeted" murders.

Four years after the high-profile murders, Toronto cops have now asked for the public's help in identifying a suspect.

Police have released a short clip of a person walking near the Sherman's home onDecember 13, 2017 – the night police believe the murders took place.

Detective Sergeant Brandon Price told a news conference: "This individual's actions are highly suspicious."

The suspect is the only individual captured on CCTV footage near the house who police have been unable to identify in the case.

Sgt Price said the person entered a "well-defined area, tight around the Sherman property" on the night of the killings.

Asked why the individual was now a suspect, Sgt Price said: "We have this individual coming into a very defined area… and remaining in that area for a period and then leaving."

The officer said detectives have been "unable to find a purpose" for the suspect to be there.

The suspect is said to be about 5ft 6in and 5ft 9in tall with a distinctive walk.

But as the suspect was wearing a parka and a cap, cops could not determine the individual's sex, age, weight or skin color.

Sgt Price said police reviewed "a very large amount of security video footage" from the neighbourhood and detectives were able to eliminate as suspects "the vast majority of people captured on the videos".

He said: "We are left with one individual whom we have been unable to identify.

"Through our investigation, we have been unable to determine what this individual's purpose was in the neighbourhood."

UNIDENTIFIED SUSPECT

He added: "The timing of this individual's appearance is in line with when we believe the murders took place.

"Based on this evidence we're classifying this individual as a suspect."

Asking the public for help in identifying the suspect, Price pointed out "the way in which they kick up their right foot with every step".

Sherman, one of Canada's richest men, was the chairman of global generic drug supplier Apotex.

He and his wife were well-known philanthropists who gave millions to hospitals, universities and Jewish organisations.

The couple's fully clothed bodies were found hanging by the pool in the basement of their mansion on December 15, 2017.

Police said there had been no signs of a break-in.

Since the murders, detectives have conducted some 250 witness interviews, received 1,255 tips from the public, and obtained 41 warrants.

Police said a £5.8million reward is still available to the public for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of a suspect.
