This is the heartbreaking moment a sick dog appears to wave goodbye to its owner before lying down to die.
The six-year-old Alaskan Malamute was taken to the vets in Shanxi, northern China by its owner, known as as Ms Xu, where the animal was found to have numerous tumours growing inside its liver and a swollen abdomen.
Footage, filmed on January 20, was posted to social media and showed the dog lying on his side before looking up at his owner and appearing to wave his two front paws at her.

Ms Xu said that she believed that her beloved pet was waving goodbye to her before passing on.
At the time, she said she told her dog: ‘If you feel uncomfortable, just leave, don’t endure it’, which is what prompted the animal to ‘wave’ its final goodbye.

One viewer wrote: ‘The most fearful thing for pet owners is the moment of parting.’
Another said: ‘It’s just that he can’t speak, but he actually understands everything.’
