Rapper goes on trial in Spain charged with cutting off a British teacher’s PENIS with a 12-inch kitchen knife – despite the act being CONSENSUAL in a bid to generate online video views for the 35-year-old expat
- Aaron Beltran was offered money to carry out the procedure, prosecutors said
- Andrew B has gender dysphoria and wanted to share the mutilation online
- He has not pressed charges and maintained the maiming was consensual
- But Beltran is still being tried in Zaragoza for the crime of wounding
A Spanish rapper will go on trial later today accused of cutting off a British teacher’s penis with a 12-inch kitchen knife for 200 Euros.
State prosecutors want Aaron Beltran jailed for four years and six months if he is found guilty of a crime of wounding.
An indictment released ahead of trial says the 35-year-old Briton, an English teacher named only as Andrew B, offered his flatmate a deal where payment would depend on the number of times a gory video of the amputation was viewed on social media.
Spanish rapper Aaron Beltran (pictured) will go on trial later today accused of cutting off a British teacher’s penis with a 12-inch kitchen knife for 200 Euros
The minimum payment would be 200 Euros (£173) and the maximum 2,500 Euros (£2,164).
The extraordinary agreement leading to the March 8 2019 amputation is due to be outlined by prosecutors at a court in Zaragoza.
Police were called to a city centre street after the expat, who worked at a language academy in Zaragoza, was spotted bleeding heavily near the rented home he shared with Beltran and two other tenants.
A local paper claimed at the time police had subsequently discovered he had registered on a social networking app a few weeks earlier in search of a candidate to film him mutilating himself. Officers later dismissed the reports.
Prosecutors admit the amputation was consensual but argue that does not exempt the Spaniard set to stand trial from criminal responsibility.
Police found the Brit’s sex organ in a plastic bag inside their flat and it was re-attached in an emergency op at Zaragoza’s Miguel Servet Hospital (pictured)
The Brit whose penis he cut off has not pressed charges and has waived his right to compensation.
He spent three weeks in hospital after the incident before returning to the UK.
Prosecutors have accepted he suffers from gender dysphoria. His penis was successfully re-attached during an operation and is understood to be functioning properly.
Beltran’s lawyer is expected to argue in court his client was not responsible for the amputation and seek his acquittal.
The indictment released ahead of trial states: ‘On the morning of March 8 2019 Andrew offered the defendant a payment of 200 Euros to amputate his penis, on the basis that it would go up to £2,500 depending on the number of times the video they planned to film it with was viewed on social media.
‘The accused accepted this proposal.
‘On the afternoon of March 8, just before 7.15pm when both men were in the victim’s bedroom, Andrew tied his pyjama cord round the bottom of his penis to avoid haemorrhaging.
‘The accused, who was sat on a chair in front of him, cut his penis with a 12-inch kitchen knife which was never found because the accused got rid of it.’
Beltran’s lawyer is expected to argue in court his client was not responsible for the amputation and seek his acquittal
It is not yet clear what the Brit at the centre of the extraordinary tale will tell the court when he gives evidence as a witness.
Beltran’s defence lawyer has already been quoted as saying he will call for his acquittal because Andrew ‘did it himself’.
He has also insisted that even if it is proven his client was involved, the victim’s penis was reattached and is working properly and the amputation was a consensual act.
The other witnesses will include the pair’s two flatmates.
Beltran was arrested five days after the horror incident and spent four months in prison before being released on bail ahead of trial.
Reports around the time the British man left hospital in Spain and returned to the UK said he and the accused had boozed on four bottles of white wine and took valium to muster up courage before going through with the amputation.
Police found the Brit’s sex organ in a plastic bag inside their flat and it was re-attached in an emergency op at Zaragoza’s Miguel Servet Hospital the same day as the amputation.
Beltran was identified soon after the incident as a rapper who goes by the artistic name of Sanatorio del Atico – Attic Sanatorium in English.
He used to publish videos of his music online from his home in Zaragoza.
