Nadhim Zahawi shared commiserations with his campaign chief Brandon Lewis over dinner at an exclusive London private members club last night after crashing out of the Tory leadership race.
The Chancellor, who was kicked out after the first round alongside Jeremy Hunt, was joined by his wife Lana, who sparkled in a £1,300 Gucci velvet shirt with matching trousers.
Mrs Zahawi, 56, is director of Zahawi & Zahawi Ltd, a family property empire said to be worth £100million. She also wore a £2,767 NeverNoT yellow gold ring and a £395 crystal ring from Bea Bongiasca.
The couple were joined by Mr Lewis and his wife Justine Rappolt. Both men wore suits and shirts unbuttoned at the collar, while Ms Rappolt opted for a £245 pale blue Reiss jumpsuit.
The intimate dinner took place at Oswald’s, a private members club established by Robin Birley in 2017. It has since become popular with leading Tories including Liz Truss, Michael Gove and Boris and Carrie Johnson.
Meanwhile, Priti Patel was also out in Mayfair at the five-star Connaught Hotel, which she was seen leaving around midnight after enjoying drinks.
The Home Secretary – who announced she would not be running for PM on Tuesday – beamed as she headed in a government car wearing a £210 Boden Midi Dress.

Mr Zahawi was ejected from the leadership contest yesterday afternoon after failing to reach the minimum threshold of 30 votes.
The YouGov founder, who has since said he will not publicly back any candidate, endured a difficult campaign that was dogged by claims he is being probed by HMRC over his tax affairs.
Mr Zahawi described the allegations as ‘smears’ and vowed to publish his tax returns annually if he ever became Prime Minister.
His frustration was reflected by his campaign manager Mr Lewis, who expressed hopes that the ‘remaining stages of the leadership contest’ would be ‘carried out in a constructive spirit’.
Ms Patel had been considering a run for the leadership but in the end decided not to put her name forward.
In a statement released on Tuesday, she said: ‘I am grateful for the encouragement and support colleagues and Party members have offered me in recent days in suggesting that I enter the contest for the leadership of the Conservative Party. I will not be putting my name forward for the ballot of MPs.
‘As Home Secretary I have always put the security and safety of our country and the national interest first and my focus is to continue working to get more police on our streets, support our amazing security services to keep our country safe and control our borders.’
There was more Tory blood on the carpet today as Suella Braverman became the latest hopeful knocked out of the leadership race – with Rishi Sunak topping the ballot but Penny Mordaunt riding high.

Mr Sunak received 101 votes in the second round of the contest and Ms Mordaunt 83 – adding 16 to her previous tally – after another frenzied day at Westminster that saw Foreign Secretary Liz Truss appeal for the party’s right wing to unite behind her.
Ms Truss was well behind on 64, up 14, while Kemi Badenoch received 49. Tom Tugendhat, who has portrayed himself as the moderates’ champion, lost support with 32 votes. Although he insists he has no intention of pulling out he will be favourite to exit in the next round on Monday.
Ms Mordaunt now looks in a strong position to reach the last two, who will go to a run-off ballot of Conservative members. And she has been installed as the bookies’ favourite after bombshell polling suggested that she would win a head-to-head against any of her rivals.
The focus will now shift to a series of TV debates scheduled over the weekend, where the candidates will cross swords directly for the first time.
