‘Starving Brits will soon turn into cannibals and eat each other’, Russia claims

Barmy Russian telly chiefs say starving Brits will soon turn to cannibalism – but their outlandish claim is only based on a Jeremy Clarkson gag.

Propaganda channel TsargradTV said UK food supplies had been so badly hit by Western sanctions in the Ukraine invasion, Brits would have to start eating each other.

The bizarre claim – on a channel owned by a Vladimir Putin supporter – quoted presenter Jeremy, 62, joking earlier this month it would be only a matter of time before “people eat their neighbours”.

TsargradTV claimed: “Things are not going well in the UK.

"Journalists begin to say terrible things aloud, reminding them of the risk of cannibalism.”

But the Clarkson’s Farm host had been kidding when he wrote: “While people can live without heat or clothing or even sex, they cannot live without food. Hunger makes people eat their neighbours.”

The strange claim is the latest in a series of bizarre statements made by ever-more-desperate propaganda chiefs in Russia.

But it doesn't always go according to Vlad's plan…

On Wednesday, the Daily Star reported how a propaganda broadcast showing off a massive nuclear-capable artillery weapon in Ukraine may have given away its position to Ukrainian defenders.

Kremlin mouthpiece Aleksandr Kots showed off the 2S4 Tyulpan (Tulip) 240mm self-propelled heavy mortar in a TV report from a Russian position outside Severodonetsk after the weapon had been moved from Mariupol.

But less than a day later, the fearsome Cold War era mortar was destroyed in a massive fireball after its location was pinpointed by the Ukrainians.
