A local ramen chain has scooped up space along South Pearl Street in Platt Park.
Sukiya Ramen, which has three locations in Denver, has taken over Etc. Eatery’s remaining 12-year lease for the 2,700-square-foot building at 1472 S. Pearl St., according to Sanborn and Company broker Mark Valente, who represented Etc. Eatery owner Tim Chladek in the deal.
Chladek closed Etc. Eatery, a multicultural comfort food restaurant, in June after two years. He told BusinessDen that opening during the pandemic never gave him a fair shot, and the aftermath was too difficult to bounce back from.
Sukiya first opened at 7939 E. Arapahoe Road in Greenwood Village. A second location was added in 2019 at 450 N. Broadway in Denver, and a third this year within the Park Meadows mall in Lone Tree. Owner Ken Shin did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The restaurant serves ramen dishes from all regions of Japan, like Hakata tonkotsu ramen, miso ramen from Sapporo and Nagasaki-style seafood ramen. Sukiya’s signature ramen broth is made fresh daily, and customers have the option to build their own.
