Surrey Memorial Hospital in British Columbia is evacuated after ‘improvised explosive’ reported by security guard

A HOSPITAL has been evacuated in British Columbia after a possible "improvised explosive" was reported by a security guard.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called to Surrey Memorial hospital on Saturday after the security guard spotted the device.

The area near the emergency department has been evacuated, police told Global News.

Authorities including the Surrey RCMP explosives disposal team were at the scene to investigate the item.

RCMP is treating the device as a live explosive as it examines the situation.

The Sun reached out to Surrey RCMP for further details but didn't immediately hear back.
