14 injured, seven cars hit after driver leads cops on wild chase in NYC
The driver of a lime-green luxury car crashed his vehicle into a slew of others and drove the flashy ride up onto a Bronx sidewalk to avoid cops in a wild caught-on-video chase, leaving 11 people injured, police say.
Francisco Padilla, 29, launched his dangerous escapade in his Mercedes Benz GLC Coup around 5 p.m. Wednesday after cops tried to stop him in Fordham Manor because of the dark tint on his ride, according to police.
Padilla allegedly refused to pull over and fled down a packed East Fordham Road as officers gave chase on foot with their guns drawn.
A video posted to Instagram shows the garish green machine weaving back and forth, smashing into vehicles as an onlooker screams, “Yo! They wildin’ out here!”
Padilla eventually found a hole in traffic and jumped the curb in front of an Old Navy and sped off.
The car was later recovered ditched at Hughes and Crescent avenues, cops said.
Police caught up with Padilla on Thursday and charged him with 11 counts of reckless endangerment, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing police, obstruction and making an illegal U-turn, according to the NYPD.
