THE Sycamore Fire in California has been upgraded to a second alarm response, according to the LA County Fire Department.
More than 200 firefights are at the scene both in the air and on the ground, said the department.
A fixed-wing aircraft has also been requested to combat the flames.
The incident was initially declared as a fast-moving brush fire. It was burning uphill and has threatened multiple homes in Whittier.
Two homes have already been impacted, according to local reports.
As of 4pm, the fire spread to 7 acres.
No injuries were immediately reported.
