A TEENAGE boy has died in hospital after police were called to Scotland’s oldest boarding school.
Emergency crews raced to the Loretto School in Musselburgh, East Lothian, last Tuesday at around 6.50pm following concerns for a 17-year-old boy.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but sadly died in hospital a short time later.
The school's community has been left "devastated" by his death.
And said they are giving his family "all the support" they can.
A spokesperson for Loretto School said: "Following a medical emergency last Tuesday evening at the school, paramedics were called to the school to treat a pupil.
"Sadly, he passed away a short time later in hospital.
"The school community is devastated and we are giving his family all the support we can.
"We have also been working with pupils and staff impacted by this tragic news and that is our focus for now."
Officers confirm that there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 6.50pm on Tuesday, May 2, police were called to a school in the Linkfield Road area of Musselburgh following concern for a 17-year-old male.
“He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died a short time later.
“At this time, there would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
