Teen's debit card gets dropped in deep fat FRYER at McDonald's drive-thru

A TEENAGER swears he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder after McDonald's workers accidentally fried his debit card.

Tom Beck, 18, handed over the card to pay for his meal at the McDonald's drive-thru in South Hykeham, Lincolnshire on Saturday morning.

But instead of bringing his order, an embarrassed employee returned with a melted debit card and an apology after it was accidentally dropped in one of the restaurant's deep fat fryers.

Luckily for the member of staff, Tom was in a forgiving mood.

He said: 'The lad just came back to the window and "you’re going to hate me right now but I’ve just dropped your card into the fat fryer and it has melted."

'I just replied "right, ok" and saw the funny side.'

Tom is now without a debit card until a replacement arrives, but he does not have any complaints after he was given a 'compensation package'.

He said: 'I parked up and went inside. The manager came over, apologised a lot and offered me loads of free food.

'They put my name into a book in the store so I can get more free food when I go there next.'

Tom's friend, Luke Hinojosa, witnessed the whole thing and even filmed the aftermath of the incident.

And he thought it was hilarious.

Luke said: 'I couldn’t believe my eyes.'

McDonald’s said it is incredibly sorry about what happened and hopes the apology will make up for it.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a customer’s bank card was damaged during a transaction on the morning of Saturday, August 18.
