This Morning viewers think show played Rolf Harris song during feature – but it's not

THIS  Morning viewers were convinced today the ITV show played a song by shamed entertainer Rolf Harris – but the show confirmed they hadn't.

Viewers believed the paedo's version of Never Smile at a Crocodile was playing as Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield introduced a segment about a croc wrangler.

But it was later confirmed the show played a different version of the Disney song.

Dozens of confused viewers took to Twitter to ask if This Morning had actually used a song by convicted paedo Harris.

@lockasLass said: "Was that really Rolf Harris playing over the croc man preview #ThisMorning".

@AmyJAndrews said: "@thismorning Please tell me you didn’t just use a Rolf Harris song to plug that crocodile segment."

@_CtrlCam wrote: "@thismorning bit controversial playing a snippet of Rolf Harris as you went to the ad breaks then guys?"

@lynnebarrett98 said: "@thismorning somebody please tell me that wasn't a Rolf Harris song playing when showing the footage of crocodile guy".

While @dukewybourne13 tweeted: "Rolf Harris playing in background. Who gets royalties yew tree or hmp? #thismorning".

Never Smile at a Crocodile was originally composed in 1939 by Frank Churchill for Disney film Peter Pan, which was later shelved.

The song eventually appeared in the 1953 movie but without Jack Lawrence's lyrics and Stuart Foster and Judy Valentine's vocals.

It has since been released by a number of artists including Henry Calvin, Jerry Lewis and The Paulette Sisters.

Harris's version was released in 1988 on his album All-Time Cartoon Hit Songs.

The disgraced entertainer is currently serving a five year sentence after being convicted of 12 indecent assault offences against four young victims.

He had one charge overturned in November by the High Court after he launched a legal bid claiming the jury had been "poisoned" against him.

ITV later confirmed the song used in the segment was not by Harris.

Monster Croc Wrangler starts Monday at 8pm on Nat Geo WILD.
