  • Users on the social media app are filming themselves making flirty comments
  • Police chiefs have hit out at the trend, saying it hinders vital work

Yobs are filming themselves harassing female police officers in a ‘deeply disrespectful’ TikTok trend.

Users on the social media app are filming on-duty officers while making flirty, sometimes intimidating comments, with some clips getting thousands of views.

Police chiefs have hit out at the trend, saying it hinders vital police work and invades officers’ privacy.

The stunts have become so prevalent that a round-up video collating several of them, captioned ‘Roadmen flirt with female police officers’ followed by a laughing emoji, has been viewed 662,000 times.

In one clip, a man approaches a female officer standing by a patrol car, saying: ‘What’s your name, beautiful?’

He adds: ‘What are you telling me? You’re looking good. What’s your Snap [Snapchat]?’

It comes just a week following reports that teachers are quitting their jobs after being falsely labelled as paedophiles by students in TikTok videos amid a nationwide ‘teaching-bashing’ craze.

More than 50 reports of staff suffering ‘disgraceful abuse’ through messages and imagery posted on TikTok have been received by the Association of School and College Leaders, and unions have warned that the harmful videos are causing teachers to leave their work.

In one video, a man accosts a female officer outside Dyfed Powys Police station near Abergavenny in Wales, repeatedly asking if she’s had cosmetic surgery

In one of the police ‘flirting’ videos, one user zooms in on a female officer’s face while accosting her.

‘What’s your name miss?’ he asks, reading her badge number aloud. ‘What’s your name, cutie? Lips are mad as well.’

He repeatedly says a woman’s name, presumably read from her badge, in the video.

The stunts have become so prevalent on TikTok that these clips were included in a round-up video. It’s captioned ‘Roadmen flirt with female police officers’ – followed by a laughing emoji – and it has been viewed 662,000 times

In another video, a man accosts a female officer outside Dyfed Powys Police station near Abergavenny in Wales, repeatedly asking if she’s had cosmetic surgery.

He can be heard saying: ‘Did you have a lip filler, can I ask?’

She replies: ‘No, I don’t.’

The man filming adds: ‘You look like you do.’

The officer says: ‘Again, I think your questioning is way beyond what you should be asking me.

‘You’re now asking me personal questions about how I look.

‘I’m doing my job.’

He then asks her female colleague: ‘Why are you wearing sunglasses in this weather?’

The clip has been viewed just under 255,000 times on TikTok.

Ch Supt Raj Kohli of Hants Police said: ‘The objectification of women is a real problem for society.

‘The misogyny and sexism on display here is part of the spectrum that leads to violence against women and girls.

‘Furthermore, focusing on colleagues who are here to keep people safe is unacceptable.

‘Those people recording these videos should take a hard look at themselves.

‘How would they feel if it was their female relative being so disrespectfully treated?’

A Police Federation spokesman said: ‘Not only is this deeply disrespectful to female officers, but incredibly worrying should this harassment happen at a time where they may be on duty, investigating a serious crime or when other members of the public may need their help.

‘It also poses a potential risk to their personal privacy which should be respected at their place of work.’

A National Police Chiefs’ Council spokesman said: ‘Police officers work hard every day to protect and keep the public safe.

‘It is never acceptable for someone to be abused or harassed for doing their job.’
