An 18-month-old girl has died in hospital six days after she was found unresponsive at home.
Lancashire Police have launched an investigation into the ’cause and the circumstances’ surrounding the toddler’s death.
Investigators will carry out a Home Office post-mortem examination to try and establish her cause of death.
Police say no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
Paramedics took the girl to Royal Preston Hospital on March 15 after responding to an address in Fulwood, Preston. She was later transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she died six days later
Paramedics were called to an address in Fulwood, Preston around 1.15pm on March 15 after receiving reports that a young girl had been found unresponsive.
The 18-month-old was taken to Royal Preston Hospital before later being transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where she died on the morning of March 21.
‘We are continuing with our investigation to determine the cause and the circumstances surrounding this girl’s sad death,’ a spokesperson told MailOnline.
‘Our thoughts are with the girl’s loved ones at this time.’
