A tour boat with 26 people on board has sunk off the coast of Japan, with no sign of survivors, the coastguard have said.

The vessel made an emergency distress call earlier today (April 23), but despite six patrol boats and four aircrafts searching, no one has yet been found.

The 19-ton Kazu1 made an emergency distress call in the early afternoon, saying the bow of the ship had been flooded and was beginning to sink and tilt, while keeling at a 30-degree angle.

It was carrying 24 passengers, of which two were children, as well as two crew members, with all those on board wearing life jackets.
