A TOWN'S Christmas tree with balding branches has been branded an "utter disgrace" by raging locals.
The festive fir in Buckley, Wales, was dubbed "terrible" and "dreadful" when a picture shared to Facebook revealed it's sparse foliage and sagging lights.
But the local council claims the tree didn't always look so drab.
After the tree's lights were switched on, it fell victim to "certain youths" who snapped off leaves and snipped strings of lights.
Buckley Town Council contractor Andy White told North Wales Live: "The tree was duly lit after the families conducted the countdown and looked magical , with lots of positive comments from those who attended.
"Unfortunately, in the following nights ,there has been certain youths causing anti-social behaviour in and around the Town Centre, and our tree has such events drawn to their attention, resulting in them snapping branches and even cutting the lights.
"I just can’t see what they get from this. It not only makes the town untidy, there is the obvious risk of electrocution and spoils the festive season for our community."
It comes after London's iconic Trafalgar Square Christmas tree was ridiculed as a "national embarrassment" earlier this month.

Londoners claimed the tree looks "half dead" and more than a little worse for wear.
The fir, an annual gift from Norway, was given pride of place at the London landmark on December 1.
Once decorated, it is supposed to bring a bit of festive cheer after another difficult year – but people claim it evokes anything but.
Snaps of the 78ft (24m) "scrawny" spruce show it looking "hungover" and "spindly", according to disappointed viewers.
One person said on Twitter: "The Trafalgar Square tree is utterly depressing.

While a third chimed: "Looks like Norway lifted last year’s tree out the skip and returned it to Trafalgar Square, complete with some termites.
