Police believe the collision has not led to any passengers onboard the train being injured.

The truck driver, a man thought to be in his 50s, sustained non-life-threatening upper-body injuries.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the driver was in a stable condition and an air ambulance had been dispatched.

Police say an investigation is underway and the exact circumstances of the collision are unknown.

V/Line has cancelled the 10:21 Epsom to Southern Cross service and says passengers can board replacement coaches.

More to come.
