Former President Donald Trump came out swinging Tuesday night in response to a report that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance has convened a grand jury to examine potential criminal charges related to the activities of the Trump Organization.

“This is a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history,” Trump began a lengthy statement. “It began the day I came down the escalator in Trump Tower, and it’s never stopped. They wasted two years and $48 million in taxpayer dollars on Mueller and Russia Russia Russia, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and it continues to this day, with illegally leaked confidential information.”

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the grand jury will sit three days per week for the next six months and will hear evidence related to several long-term matters.

Since 2019, Vance’s office has been investigating allegations that the Trump Organization committed insurance and bank fraud. The probe is reportedly looking into loans the 45th president took out on some of his most well-known buildings, including Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, the Trump International Hotel and Tower at Columbus Circle, and Trump Plaza on the Upper East Side.

The DA’s investigation is being carried out alongside the office New York Attorney General Letitia James, which revealed last week that the investigation into the Trump Organization was being conducted “in a criminal capacity.”

“No other President in history has had to put up with what I have had to,” raged Trump, who described the investigations as “purely political, and an affront to the almost 75 million voters who supported me in the Presidential Election, and it’s being driven by highly partisan Democrat prosecutors.”

“New York City and State are suffering the highest crime rates in their history, and instead of going after murderers, drug dealers, human traffickers, and others, they come after Donald Trump,” the former president continued.

The investigations stem from claims by Michael Cohen, Trump’s onetime personal attorney, that the real estate mogul inflated the value of his financial assets to get more favorable loan conditions.

On Tuesday, Trump sought to tie the investigations to his potential 2024 White House run, writing: “Interesting that today a poll came out indicating I’m far in the lead for the Republican Presidential Primary and the General Election in 2024.

“Our Country is broken, our elections are rigged, corrupt, and stolen, our prosecutors are politicized, and I will just have to keep on fighting like I have been for the last five years!” he concluded.

A spokesman for Vance’s office declined to comment on the Post report.
