Two bodies found bound together in south-east Queensland dam

A kayaker discovered two bodies tied together in a south-east Queensland dam on Saturday, but police believed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The kayaker found the bodies, floating about five metres from shore, about 3.30pm on Saturday at Gordonbrook Dam, about 170 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.

Emergency services recovered the bodies on Saturday night.

“Inquires are being conducted by Kingaroy and Murgon Criminal Investigation Branch to establish the identities of the pair and the circumstances of their deaths,” police said in a statement.

“A post-mortem will be conducted in coming days.”

A police spokesman said, despite the dramatic nature of the find, they did not believe anyone else was involved.

Crisis support is available from Lifeline on 13 11 14.
