TWO fragments of a meteorite found by a space nerd are for sale — and expected to fetch nearly £60,000.
The 4.6billion-year-old rock fell to Earth in a fireball seen by millions and landed in pieces around Winchcombe, Gloucs.
Enthusiast Chris Casey, 34, scoured the town with dozens of other people hoping to claim a piece of the treasure.
Carpenter Chris camped in a field for three weeks before he found fragments hidden in grass on a housing estate.
He is now selling two pieces through Christie’s, where experts reckon he will bank £51,000 for one and £6,000 for the other.

The larger rock is the size of a walnut while the other is smaller than a penny. Together they weigh barely half an ounce.
Chris, from Staines-upon- Thames, Surrey, said: “These meteorites are just incredible.
"They contain the building blocks for life on Earth.”
The meteorite hunter, who has travelled the world rooting out space rocks, has already sold a third fragment on eBay for £16,000.
The Winchcombe meteorite came down in February last year and was the first to have been found in Britain for 30 years.
Footage from doorbell cameras was used to track its trajectory.
The largest piece — worth more than £100,000 — left a crater on a driveway and is on display at the Natural History Museum.
Christie’s online auction ends tomorrow.
