UK Covid deaths dropped by a quarter in a week as 678 more fatalities were today recorded while cases fell by 34 per cent.
The 13,494 new infections have brought the total number of positive cases to 3,998,655.

A further 678 deaths have been reported – a 25 per cent decrease on the 915 tragic fatalities recorded last Thursday.
The total number of victims in the UK killed by the bug now stands at 115,529.
But there are hopes Covid is slowly loosening its grip across the country with 13,494 cases recorded today compared to the 20,634 infections last week.
So far 13,509,108Â first doses of the vaccine have so far been administered. The seven-day rolling average of first doses given in the UK is now 431,127.
Based on the latest vaccine figures, an average of 372,723 first doses of the jab would be needed each day to meet the Government's target of 15 million first doses by February 15.

During the April peak, the highest Covid daily death toll recorded was 1,010.
In England, a further 494 have died of Covid-19, bringing the grim tally to  77,745.
Patients were aged between 27 and 103 years old and all except for 22 had underlying health conditions, according to NHS England.
Scotland has recorded 48 deaths from coronavirus and 830 positive tests in the past 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon said.
There have been a further 410 cases of coronavirus in Wales, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 197,754.
Public Health Wales reported another 27 deaths, taking the total in the country since the start of the pandemic to 5,059.
In Northern Ireland, 253 new cases were and nine furhter deaths.
