UK weather – Brits to sizzle in ANOTHER scorching heatwave in days with glorious sunshine & sweltering highs of 28C | The Sun

BRITS are set to sizzle in another scorching heatwave in a few days with sweltering highs of 28C.

Parts of the country will enjoy glorious sunshine following last weeks scorching highs of over 32C that saw the UK record hotter temperatures than Mexico.

The mercury smashed early summer records for the third day in a row last week as Friday June 17 marked the hottest day of the year so far.

The Met Office said the heat swelled to a blistering 32.7C in Santon Downham, Suffolk, while Heathrow saw sweltering highs of 32.4C.

But the simmering temperatures ended when the heavens opened and doused much of Britain in showers.

And while the weather will not quite match up to the recent heatwave it will soon be very toasty again with temperatures expected to peak at 28C in London on Thursday.

Met Office officials said the UK would mostly enjoy a dry and sunny few days ahead after thunderstorms and lightning over the weekend.

Parts of Sussex, Kent, Essex and Suffolk encountered bouts of lightning as temperatures dropped last week’s heatwave, which brought three consecutive hottest days of the year.

All of the UK can expect “a dry, fine and bright” start to the week, along with “plenty of sunshine”, as well as temperatures in the low twenties for the first half of the week, the Met Office said.

Met Office Forecaster Simon Partridge said: “After a rather changeable weekend we’re expecting the weather to settle down this week as high pressure develops.

“This high pressure builds in from the west of the UK during the first half of the week bringing lots of dry fine weather to all parts except the far northwest.”

The northwest can expect cloudier weather and rain, with some showers also forecast across southern parts of the UK.

And the Met Office said that temperatures will build throughout the week and are forecast to reach the mid to high twenties by Thursday.

The Met Office had issued a Level 3 Heat Health Alert and an expert warned of a "rare climate change event" amid the scorcher.

Level 3 means hot weather could increase the health risks to the vulnerable.

It comes after a weather expert said that Britain could be sizzled by another four heatwaves this summer.

Another FOUR heatwaves on the way as Brits told to expect Spanish summer

Plumes as hot as Spanish summers could descend on the nation – sending the mercury rocketing to "well into the high thirties".

And the next hot spell could be as early as July, and it may even be hotter than the scorcher Britain have just emerged out of.
