SUMMER may be over but Britons can look forward to basking in the sun this weekend.
August was a damp squib but those longing to step back into the heatwave can enjoy highs of 23C on Saturday.
However, before the sun comes back out, the south east of the country will have to endure showers today.
Conditions will be cooler with highs of 19C in the Midlands and lows of 13C in northern Scotland.
A Met Office Spokesman said: “Tuesday was 25C so today is a noticeable drop in temperatures – but there are certainly signs this weekend that it could be a bit warmer.
“Thursday and Friday temperatures will be on the rice, with it reaching 22 and possibly 23C in the South by Saturday and Sunday.
“But generally conditions are quite average for this time of year.”
