UP to 22 people have died with 'bodies strewn across tables and chairs' in a mass 'poisoning' in a nightclub.
Emergency services were called at the Enyobeni Tavern in East London, South Africa early this morning.
They found lifeless bodies across tables and chairs with at least 22 deaths reported so far.
Authorities who were alerted by members of the public to the incident at Scenery Park are investigating the deaths.
Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said the circumstances under which they died are "under investigation".
He added it was too early to determine the cause of death of the young adults aged between 18-20 years.

"We do not want to make any speculations at this stage," Kinana said.
Local television showed police officers trying to calm down a crowd of people gathered outside the club in the city.
Police said the cause of death remains unknown however there has been speculation they were exposed to some kind of poison.
Local media also suggest the people were killed in a stampede.

Eastern Cape Police Commissioner Nomthetheleli Mene told SABC News said an initial report suggested there was a stampede inside the venue.
She said: “We are waiting for the investigation to continue and that will guide us as to what type of a docket, what crime we will register as the police."
Meanwhile, residents have called for the venue's closure claiming underage drinking is allowed.
