Shocking video has emerged of police officers throwing several punches at a ‘teenager’ during an arrest in London.

Phone footage from witnesses appears to show the officers striking the male at least seven times before pushing him to the ground and arresting him.

Witness also claim that police kicked-out at the suspect during the incident, which is said to have taken place yesterday in Abbey Wood, south east London.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Carina White, a media commentator, said: ‘Hey Met Police, just wondering if this is reasonable and appropriate use of force to detain a 16 year old child? Kicking and punching???’

Phone footage from witnesses shows officers striking the male at least seven times before pushing him to the ground and arresting him. The officers also appear to kick the suspect during the incident, which is believed to have taken place yesterday outside an address in Abbey Wood, south east London.

‘This is a friend of a friend’s son and took place yesterday in Abbey Wood.’

Ms White said the incident took place when the male, who she described as being a GCSE student, had gone to visit a friend.

She added: ‘He had gone to see if his friend was OK as he saw police in his garden and this is what the end result was.

‘The police weren’t even there for him.’

The video has sparked anger on social media. One social media user, responding to Ms White’s Tweet, wrote: ‘It’s the fact that he’s down and they’re still dropping blows, that gets me fuming.

‘Is he an “apprehended suspect” or is he an opp? Because based on this vid, it look like road beef, not an arrest.’

Another added: ‘This is outrageous and must be investigated.’

MailOnline has contacted the Met Police for a comment. However the force declined to comment without further information about the location of the incident.
